Software Microsoft Office 2007 FAQ's
. I have upgraded to Office
2007 and I am lost without the old toolbar I am used to. Is there anything I can
do?
.
While Microsoft has no provision for using the old toolbars there is an add on
you can get at
http://www.toolbartoggle.com/ . This adds the old style toolbar as well as
leaving the ribbon toolbar so you can gradually convert.
.
I saved a file in Office 2007 and when I sent it to a friend they said they
couldn't open it. Why not? .
Office 2007 uses a new file format. While they have some advantages, smaller
file size among them, they are not compatible with older versions of Office.
There are two ways around the problem. The first is to make Office save files in
the old file formats. To do that click the Microsoft Office Button
and select Word (or excel etc.) Options. Go to Save and change the save files in
this format to Word 97-2003 Document (*.doc) (for
example). You will need to do this for each program in your Office Suite except
Outlook changing to the appropriate older file format for that program.
The second approach is to install a translator on other older copies of Office.
For anyone running Office 97 through 2003 you can download and install the file
converter by going
here. This will allow older versions of Office to open files created by
Office 2007.
. I understand I can
make my own PDF files in Office 2007 without having to buy Adobe
Acrobat. How do I do this?
. Go
here and download the add in for Microsoft Office 2007. Once installed you
can create a document and then click Save As and choose .PDF as the file type.
This will create a PDF file that can be used just like any other PDF.
. I'm unsure how to use the
new interface in Office 2007. Are there any hints on what to do?
. Microsoft has an add in for
the ribbon bar called Get Started. It links you to online resources for getting
up to speed on the new interface. It can be downloaded
here.
