Buying Guide - Printers

There are 3 common printer technologies - laser, inkjet and dot matrix. Each has its uses. Additionally printers can come as all in one devices with scanning, faxing and copying capabilities. There are also several different way to attach your printer to your computer or computers.

Single Function Printers

Single function printers do one thing, print. If you plan to print pictures an inkjet will give the best results. They are also generally good for all around printing. As a general rule inkjets offer color printing standard. Laser printers are available as both black only and now offer color as well on some models. Dot matrix are necessary if you are doing multi-copy  forms.

Inkjet Printers

Inkjet printers work by spraying ink onto the paper through a small nozzle. They are excellent for printing on a wide range of papers including photo. The down side of inkjet printers is the high cost of ink and the frequency with which it has to be replaced. When purchasing an inkjet printer there are several things to look for.
